Can you see the holiness in those things you take for granted--a paved road or a washing machine? If you concentrate on finding what is good in every situation, you will discover that your life will suddenly be filled with gratitude, a feeling that nurtures the soul. - Rabbi Harold Kushner, Rabbi Laureate of Temple Israel in the Boston suburb of Natick, Massachusetts. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, and graduated from Columbia University. My little babies both came home with a little bug Tuesday night. Thankfully, though, they were in good spirits and increasing health yesterday but the daycare won't take them back son soon so I had the pleasure and stress of once again playing the role of a stay-at-home-mom-for-a-day. In the early afternoon, we decided to take a drive. I brought along my camera and Macy brought hers and we headed out to some of the beautiful back roads of East Texas. It was a foggy, dreary day and the pictures turned out pretty neato, I think. Above is a shot I took on Old Omen Road just east of Tyler and North of Whitehouse. I actually enjoy dreary days. I think the world looks beautiful when the sun is hiding behind the clouds and the air is thick with haze and dew. I guess if you can appreciate the beauty in it, you can forget the dreariness of it all.
It's official...

My little man is now a certified walker. I've been trying to attach a video clip of the little guy here all morning but to no avail. Here's a picture of his sweet face, instead.
happy birthday, Mikey!
On Saturday we celebrated Mike's (and Matt Schwartz's) birthdays by attending a Bossier City/Shreveport Mudbugs vs. Laredo Bucks CHL Hockey game in Shreveport. It was a blast!! Here's my handsome, 41-year-old birthday hubby...
another beautiful sunrise
I often stop and take pictures of trees these days. I drive by this tree every day and just love it for some reason. Can you believe these colors?
